If you don’t find the answer to your question below, please feel free to reach out to us here. We look forward to chatting with you!
+ WHAT IS REVIVE?
Revive is a work and travel program dedicated to helping full-time employees, freelancers, and entrepreneurs take control or their lives and careers by creating custom 1-month, 4-month, and 12-month travel and growth experiences for ambitious adventurers who want to work remotely while exploring the world.
+ WHAT IS THE AVERAGE AGE OF PARTICIPANTS?
Revive participants come in all ages and we welcome any age to apply! We are looking to build diverse programs and that includes age diversity. Whether you have graduated from college recently and are looking to learn and grow skills for a career, you are starting your own business and want to travel with others you can learn from, or have recently retired and are looking to embark on your next adventure, Revive programs offer something for every age. The average age of Revive applicants is 35.
+ WHO GOES ON THE TRIPS?
Our applicants vary widely in background. We have doctors, artists, project managers, musicians, digital darketing experts, coders, professors, entrepreneurs and more apply to Revive programs. What makes Revive programs dynamic are our participants and their shared experiences and knowledge. A few characteristics that we insist upon in our community are curiosity, open-mindedness, ambition, and a willingness to learn and grow. Our goal is to create a collaborative, cross-disciplinary, and vibrant community - so if that sounds inspiring or exciting to you, join us! Apply now here.
+ HOW CAN I SEE THE STATUS OF MY APPLICATION?
If you've applied to the program, thank you! We're excited to get to know you better. If you have a question or would like to know the status of your application, please email us here and we will get right back to you.
+ WHAT TYPE OF COACHING DO YOU OFFER DURING THE PROGRAM?
The goal of Revive is to help you live more purposefully and passionately, by filling the gap between where you are and where you want to be. In our experience, a coach can be a really big help when embarking on this process. Every participant in our programs receives a life design or career coach, because let's face it - we all need a little help figuring out either what we want to do when we grow up or how to take our lives to the next level;-) You can read more about our coaching here.
+ CAN I TAKE A BREAK IN THE PROGRAM OR GO ON VACATION?
The goal of this program is to help you learn and grow while traveling overseas, and we work to provide social and scheduled activities, as well as free time where you can enjoy time on your own, or with others as you choose. Especially during our 1-month and 4-month programs, we strongly encourage participants to travel with the group the entire time, in order to get the most out of the program. We believe there is value in building relationships with others on the program and in the regions we visit, but we also know everyone needs time to recharge through solo experiences to think, process, journal, or pick an adventure activity to try on your own. At the end of the day, you’re an adult and you can make this experience whatever you want and we will work with you on a case-by-case basis to facilitate your individual travel needs.
+ CAN I SKIP A CITY IF I WANT? CAN I GO HOME FOR A WHILE?
A large piece of what makes our programs successful is the diversity of interest, background, and experience that each participant brings to the group. Every individual plays a vital role in contributing to the Revive community as we share with and learn from each other. Since we will be traveling together, we will be making group lodging accommodations, and ask that you remain with the group for the duration of the itinerary. However, we understand that everyone has different needs and commitments. We are happy to work with you on an individual basis to accommodate your personal needs on the program.
+ WHAT IF I HAVE A FAMILY EMERGENCY?
Life events occur outside of our control, and we of course understand that emergencies come up. We will work with you on an individual basis to accommodate your needs if an emergency occurs while you are traveling on the program.
+ WILL I HAVE FREE TIME? HOW STRUCTURED ARE THE TRIPS?
Yes, free time is important! Personal growth and transformation are essential components of Revive programming, and these cannot occur without time for reflection, exploration, and fun. Each one of us has different professional, social, and development needs and goals. For some people, waking up early to take a sunrise run up Cerro San Cristobal in Santiago might sound like the perfect way start to the day. Others might enjoy sleeping in after a late-night jam-session. Still others might look forward to a window of time by themselves, reading and journaling. In short, our trips are whatever you make of them.
Revive trips are structured to help you meet your individual goals for this experience. You can expect 2-3 Revive events a week ranging from dinner parties, to museums, to trips to the climbing gym, to a weekend adventure. Outside of that, Revive programs work with you to help you reach your goals for the trip, and allow for flexibility for you to engage in a variety of different activities while traveling and learning from your Revive community.
+ HOW BIG ARE REVIVE COMMUNITIES?
Each Revive group size is different based on the number of quality applicants we receive, however typical Revive communities consist of two cohorts of about 30-35 individuals, totalling about 75 people. This group size allows for a wide range of different skills and networking opportunities, while being intimate enough to make meaningful connections with others on the program and build a community of trust. Your community exists to help you learn and grow and provides a vital network of other like-minded individuals both during and after the program.
+ IF I GET ACCEPTED, CAN I REQUEST TO BE ON A PROGRAM WITH A FRIEND OR A PARTNER?
Of course! If you and a friend or partner are both accepted to a Revive program, we are happy to work with you both to place you in the same cohort.
+ DOES REVIVE PROVIDE JOBS?
Revive is not a job-placement service. Revive provides curated travel experiences, and offers coaching, mentoring, networking, and volunteering opportunities during the program. While Revive does not provide jobs, we understand that each participant has a different personal working arrangement and we strive to meet everyone’s needs while on the program. Revive programs cater to individuals who: work remotely; are starting their own business; are taking some time off to travel; have retired and want to see more of the world; or are in another personal or professional transition. Reach out with questions about your specific interests, anytime!
+ WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN APPLICANTS TO BE ACCEPTED TO THE PROGRAM?
Revive participants come from a diverse range of backgrounds, cultures, countries, ages, and careers. We look for individuals who are: intellectually curious; open-minded; excited to learn more about themselves and the world; looking for personal and/or professional growth; embracing of diversity, passionate about wild and natural landscapes, and adventure; kind; self-aware; thoughtful; and driven.
+ CAN I BRING MY SIGNIFICANT OTHER? WHAT ABOUT CHILDREN OR PETS?
We welcome you to recruit your significant other, partner, spouse, and friends to join the program with you! Each individual on the program is required to be a paying participant and would need to apply as an individual. At this time, pets and children under the age of 18 are not allowed on the program. However, please contact us with your questions and we would love to hear more about your individual needs for this program!
+ CAN REVIVE HELP ME FIND A REMOTE JOB OR START A BUSINESS?
Yes, Revive can help you craft a compelling request to work remote for your current boss/company. We also provide lists of hundreds of remote companies and positions. If you’re looking to start a business, Revive gives you access to resources, mentors, workshops, and local networking opportunities in-country. Revive also offers career and life design coaching for all participants. Revive is not a job placement service, and we do not provide jobs for participants.
+ DO I NEED A JOB TO PARTICIPATE IN REVIVE?
No! Revive is a travel program that will take you on some amazing international adventures, and help you connect with passionate like-minded individuals. Each individual has a different goal for their Revive experience. Some may use the program to start their own business, while others may use the program to push themselves out of their comfort zones and learn more about the world as they travel. We accept applicants with and without jobs. What we look for is passionate individuals who are looking to develop and be challenged in new ways. That growth can occur with or without a job. That being said, we do expect you to be working on some personal or professional initiative, not watching Netflix all day!
+ COULDN'T I JUST TRAVEL THE WORLD ON MY OWN AND WOULDN'T IT BE CHEAPER?
Solo travel is always an option, and potentially, it could be cheaper. What Revive offers is a unique and dynamic travelling community to help you grow, and push you outside your comfort zone, while also providing a safety net of like-minded peers with whom to share your experience. While traveling alone can be fun, and challenging (we have done a lot of it ourselves!), our programs exist to help you reach your greatest potential and to build a community of like-minded individuals. The Revive community offers you a group of people to share your learning and growth experiences with, and frankly people to have fun with! We believe that we were not put on this planet to exist alone, but to learn from those around us, help others, and discover more about the world we live in. We use a proven curriculum to coach you, and help you design a life you’re passionate about and works best for you. Connecting with like-minded individuals who are also going through a growth and discovery period is a very meaningful and magical experience that we believe exponentially increases the overall satisfaction of th trip.
+ ARE THE DESTINATIONS REVIVE TRAVELS TO SAFE?
Yes! Revive takes safety very seriously and have done our due diligence to make sure that the places we travel to are vetted. Our trusted on-the-ground local partners help us understand the best times, places, and ways to visit each country. We have built strong relationships and work with individuals who know the politics, cultures, and environments of each country very well. Although many events are outside of our control, and there is always risk when traveling, we always have our ears to the ground to learn about the current politics, weather, and societal forces of each country to see if we need to make any adjustments to our travel plans. The Revive staff has extensive travel experience including: navigating the Middle East during the Arab Spring in 2011; backpacking in remote sections of the Andes after a significant earthquake; hiking in Iceland after the volcano eruption in 2010; sailing in huge storms and nasty weather, and dealing with protests and riots in various cities across the globe. We know firsthand that the key to safe travel is always being alert, building trusting relationships with local people who know the region best, and being willing to be flexible with our itinerary and plans. Please let us know about any of your traveling concerns both before and during the program! We are here to help and answer your questions as best we can.
+ HOW DO YOU TRAVEL BETWEEN EACH OF THE DESTINATIONS?
This entirely depends on the location! On our longer trips, we have flights in between different regions of the world such as South East Asia, Africa, and Latin America. On our shorter trips, when we are in one region such as Latin America, we will fly to our first destination. From there, we may take busses, trains, or smaller flights to our next destinations. The modes of transportation will vary depending on the time of year, and country we are visiting.
+ WHAT ARE THE ACCOMODATIONS LIKE ON REVIVE PROGRAMS? WHAT'S INCLUDED?
Accommodations will vary depending on the region in which we are traveling. Our goal is to blend in with the locals and learn from the culture we visit, by staying in accommodations that are typical of the region we are visiting. In order to keep your costs low, we will be staying in modest but comfortable and tasteful accommodations. We will make sure participants always have access to clean water, wifi, good food, and safe neighborhoods. All accommodations will be furnished and have towels, linens, bedding, and all kitchen appliances and flatware included.
Revive works with our in-country partners to curate an authentic experience similar to an “AirBnb,” a hotel, or nice hostel or community housing with private rooms. All Revive participants will receive a private bedroom at a minimum, and in some cases may share a bathroom and communal areas (living room, kitchen, etc.) If you prefer to have a private apartment, that will be available for a slightly higher tuition.
+ IS ALL TRAVEL INCLUDED?
Revive covers travel costs between each of the countries on our itineraries. Upon your arrival in each new city on the itinerary, Revive will provide a unique city tour to acquaint you with the city, and help you discover where you want to hang out while you’re living there. From there, participants are responsible for: travel to the first country and from the last country on their itinerary, travel to city activities, and transportation to outdoor excursions and other excursions. Revive connects participants to affordable and safe travel options while on the program.
+ HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO I HAVE TO BOOK MY REVIVE EXPERIENCE?
Revive has a lot of applicants and in order to ensure you have a spot on our trips, we ask you to apply as soon as possible. We recommend booking travel with Revive no later than six weeks in advance of our departure date. It takes time to book travel, and booking with enough time in advance allows you to take advantage of low-cost group flights, and other group discounts. However, we are always willing to work with interested participants, and will do our best to make travel possible for everyone who is a good fit for our programs!
+ CAN I GET MY EMPLOYER TO PAY FOR A PROGRAM?
This entirely depends on your employer. Does your current job offer education stipends or sabbatical opportunities? Then you may be able to get part or all of your Revive program covered! Many employers provide money to pay for courses, certifications, or continuing education. Revive welcomes participants to take an online course, participate in a remote internship, or take on a project while in-country at one of our locations. Other employers look for language learning opportunities, and you may be able to work with your employer to see if they will cover language courses in a foreign country. We would welcome the chance to talk with you individually about your employer’s qualifications for reimbursement and would love to see how we can make the Revive programs work for you!
